MOUNJARO® 10mg KwikPen® - About and Key Features
MOUNJARO® 10mg KwikPen® is a multi-dose pre-filled injection pen designed to deliver 10 mg tirzepatide in 0.6 mL once weekly. It is prescribed for adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus who require better glycaemic control and for weight management in patients with obesity or overweight accompanied by health-related conditions. Each KwikPen® contains 2.4 mL of solution, which corresponds to 40 mg tirzepatide in total, and provides four fixed weekly doses. The solution is clear, colourless to slightly yellow, and administered by subcutaneous injection into the abdomen, thigh, or upper arm.

MOUNJARO® 10mg KwikPen® - Packaging and Ingredients
The device is supplied as a KwikPen® pre-filled with 2.4 mL of solution for four injections. Packs are available in cartons with either one or three pens. Pen needles are not included and need to be purchased separately.
The formulation consists of tirzepatide as the active ingredient, supported by excipients that maintain stability and sterility.

MOUNJARO® 10mg KwikPen® - Indications
MOUNJARO® 10mg KwikPen® is indicated for adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus as monotherapy when metformin is unsuitable, or in combination with other antidiabetic medicines. It is also approved for weight management in adults with BMI ≥30 kg/m², and in those with BMI ≥27 kg/m² who also present with at least one weight-related comorbidity, such as hypertension, dyslipidaemia, obstructive sleep apnoea, cardiovascular disease, or prediabetes.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to tirzepatide or formulation excipients

Not recommended in patients with severe gastrointestinal disorders (e.g., gastroparesis)

Use with caution in patients with prior pancreatitis

Side effects:

Very common: Nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, constipation, abdominal pain

Common: Loss of appetite, dyspepsia, dizziness, fatigue, mild injection-site reactions

Occasional: Gallbladder-related disorders such as gallstones or cholecystitis

Rare: Acute pancreatitis, severe hypersensitivity reactions (angioedema, anaphylaxis)

Laboratory findings: Increases in amylase and lipase

MOUNJARO® 10mg KwikPen® - Administration Technique and Storage
MOUNJARO® 10mg is injected once weekly, at the same time each week, with or without food. It is administered into the abdomen, thigh, or upper arm, and injection sites should be rotated to reduce irritation. Patients may self-inject after receiving appropriate training.

Initiation begins at 2.5 mg weekly for 4 weeks

Gradually escalate in 2.5 mg increments every ≥4 weeks

10 mg serves as a maintenance dose for many patients

Maximum weekly dose: 15 mg

Missed dose instructions:

If ≤4 days late: administer as soon as possible

If >4 days late: skip the missed dose and take the next scheduled dose

Administration steps:

Attach a new sterile needle before each use
-
Dial to 1 in the window (=0.6 mL dose)

Inject subcutaneously, hold for 5 seconds until window shows 0
-
Remove and discard the needle in a sharps container

Storage conditions must be followed to preserve product quality and safety.

Unopened pens: Store refrigerated at 2–8 °C

Do not freeze; discard if frozen

In-use pens: Store at ≤30 °C for up to 30 days

Discard after 30 days, even if solution remains
